Our History

Daniel Verbruggen, founder of Fast Feet Shoe Repair, fifth generation in shoe repair and Belgium native, opened his first shop in 1962 in Antwerp, Belgium, and his first USA store in 1984 in the Concord Mall in Wilmington, Delaware.

Maria Verbruggen-De Smet, Daniel Verbruggen’s wife and co-founder of Fast Feet Shoe Repair, continues to run both Fast Feet Shoe Repair shops in the Concord Mall and the New Castle Farmers Market.

Sandra Verbruggen joined full-time in the family business in 2000 when her father, Daniel Verbruggen, passed away. Sandra Verbruggen, Manager of Fast Feet Shoe Repair, also serves on the board of directors of the Shoe Service Institute of America and was the first shoe repairer and female to be president of the Shoe Service Institute of America organization.
